Marianne is currently working on her debut EP release as a rebranded solo artist this year (2024) aiming to work with body projection & mapping and performance art & spectacle in her live performances.

To date she has written and released material under the name MazRoKk with which she has performed as both a solo artist and with various ensembles (e.g.  in alternative rock band Black Mountain, with string ensembles, orchestras, etc) as well as with her folk/alt-pop duo Mazzi and Nick. 

She has also written music (and scripts - see her ‘Writing’ page) for theatre and short films (e.g. Hatters by Theatre Paradok, Edinburgh and Grimm Tales by STAGE Performing Arts School, Tynemouth) and is open to the idea of collaboration (get in touch on my contact form!)

As well as studying Music to Degree level at both The University of Edinburgh and Newcastle University respectively  (graduating from a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and Master of Arts in 2021) Marianne also received support and tuition from Sage Gateshead’s Centre for Advanced Training and Newcastle’s School of Rock and Pop.

She is very grateful to have received support in her musical development from these organisations as well her teachers Bob Jeffrey (piano) and Geordie singer-songwriter Pete Scott (guitar and songwriting) as well as from North East Talent Development Agency Generator and most notably from world-renowned Scottish Composers Anna Meredith (via Brighter Sound’s Both Sides Now Interdisciplinary Artist Residency, 2018) and Sir James MacMillan (at Royal Conservatoire Scotland). She is currently receiving mentorship from SOUND Scotland in contemporary notated composition.
